Turdus migratorius, or the Robin, now this scientific name seems strange to me, so I will have to research a little and get back to you. I know that I am suppose to leave text as well, but I am too lazy right now. At some time I hope to express an exploration of myself (yes Katie I tried to use myself :)) on this blog.

Well I looked around and think I understand the scientific name for a Robin. Turdidae is a family consisting of thrushes, which are small to medium-sized songbirds. Migratorius is to let you know that this bird is the variety of Turdidae that migrates. The reason they are so common in suburban and city areas is due to the environment they prefer. They like areas that have short grass so they can forage for food, but like dense shrubbery to nest in. Sounds like most subdivisions to me.
