Well, it was an interesting day today. I got pulled over for the first time in about 3-4 years, and received a ticket☹ I was stopped for failing to stop while turning right on a a red-light by a state highway patrol man in Bethel. I am pretty sure I did stop and that he wouldn’t have known for sure either way considering he was driving the other way. So many things I would like to say, “nothing better to do than pull over a guy who you think rolled a stop light,” how about “wanting to reach your quota early?” But, you don’t say those things. One day he might save my life. But, I do think a little bit of professionalism would have been nice. I know that police people deal with all kinds of crap, but that does not remove them from any responsibility of just being nice. They do suffer from mistakes as the rest of us. I am tempted to contest this ticket for two reasons. First, I think I stopped. Second. I would like to take a little of his time to come to the court and have to talk to me like I am a human being.
This is a great time to mention the “Bigger Stick Theory” that has been presented to me by Dr. Doolittle for many years. It has since been presented to many students in my classes. It does not matter who is right or wrong at certain times, it matters who has the bigger stick. My friends, the law has an awfully big stick☺ So, in reality, I will pay my fine and try to forget about the ticket, with me that should take about 2.76 seconds☺ I told the Boss and she was not too upset which makes it all easier.
On to better things… my new “exercise” plan starts Friday and I worked out a diet/medicine plan with my doctor. My physics students are starting to think for themselves….more fun when they do. And, my chemistry kids are excited that we kicked it into high gear...at least for now.
Here a few picture I took on a walk along the railroad tracks.
