Where in blue blazes?!?!?!

So today I thought I would go and hike another part of the local park’s perimeter trail. I am trying to do the whole loop bit by bit, so I packed up the equipment and got the dog and we were off. After parking we crossed through a filed and got to the creek we needed to cross. Jake jumped right in and was well on his way when he realized I was still lagging back at the shore. You see, the water was up, not just a little, but way up. I stood there for a moment and decided I would walk down stream a little and try to find a spot that looked shallow. I walked for about ½ a mile and decided I had found a spot that would be as good as any. Besides, this is the new me, the one that goes on conquests, the adventurer I could cross this thing. I took off my shoes and socks, rolled up my pants and took that first step cringing before my foot even hit the water. I took a few steps…see this is the new me. After about 4 steps the water was at my waist. New me or not, I still am smart enough to know that I should be able to feel my legs at all times. You see apparently the water gets very cold in the winter…who knew?

Needless to say I turned around and decided to try to find a missing segment of what I had hiked before. There is a little stretch during which I always manage to lose the trail. Surely I would be able to follow it if I walked it backwards. Heck, I know where I should end up. No such luck. I could find blue blazes everywhere, but the green I had been following…gone. I am not sure what happened, they were just gone. This is the third time I have walked that segment, never on the same trail, never with green blazes.

All in all it actual was a great hike. Jake scared some turkey up for me and it is always fun to watch those big birds try to fly.

ps. Katie how about Sunday Morning?
