it will show it on your blog exactly like that (I assume that's what you are doing). But when you use the link button (hopefully the link button shows up when you are making a post), whatever word you have highlighted is the word that will be linked, and when you are writing your post, it will look like this:

In essence, the <> are encompossing the subject of your link... opens it, and closes it.
This would be easier to explain if you were right here and I could show you. Maybe later.
